?In celebration of the 10th anniversary, the resort will run a summer golf promotion from June 20-August 28, 2011, that will give golfers the chance to test their skills at the renowned signature course.

?We are thrilled to pay tribute to a living legend who designed this first-of-its-kind course in South Texas 10 years ago,? said A.M. Cherone, general manager of The Westin La Cantera Resort. ?It is our honor to offer our guests this special promotion giving golfers the opportunity to experience first-hand this carefully crafted course.? "As an architect, my goal is to produce a golf course that utilizes the natural surroundings. The Texas Hill Country provided the perfect canvas to create The Palmer Course at LaCantera," said Arnold Palmer. "The beauty of the land lends itself to a course that is both challenging and fun to play and we hope everyone enjoys it!" The resort gained 18 more holes of golf with the opening of The Palmer Course in 2001. The Par-71, 6,998-yard course is dramatically situated over 250 acres in the Texas Hill Country. Carefully grafted into the natural landscape, The Palmer Course offers rock outcroppings, rolling hills, majestic views, native vegetation and wildlife. The course?s #4 Signature Hole requires a long carry over a lake with dramatic waterfalls on the right and entire front of the green. At the time, the course was Mr. Palmer?s first in South Texas and his fifth design in the state.?
