Red coats for NFL and PGA pros

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (wane) - Former NFL star Trent Green and PGA golf pro John Daly both have a new red coat to hang in their closets. The Mad Anthony Children?s Foundation honored the men Sunday night at the annual Red Coat Dinner.

Green said he?s honored to join the ranks of men who have also received the award.

?Huge honor when you look at all the different areas, you talk about athletes, entertainers, politicians, even Neil Armstrong the astronaut. I mean there's a lot of people who have won this award and it represents not only the Fort Wayne area, but the state of Indiana and the impact the people in the state of Indiana have had,? he said.

Both Green and Daly will tee off tomorrow for the Charity Classic Golf Tournament at Sycamore Hills Golf Course. Click Here for tee times.

All the money collected from Sunday?s silent auction and dinner, plus what?s raised Monday during the gold tournament, will be donated to the Mad Anthonys Children?s Hope House.

The Children?s Hope House was built in 2003 to provide a low-cost, homelike environment for families of critically ill or injured children.

Daily, a returning headliner for the charity round, said it?s easy to come back when it?s for a good cause like the Hope House.

?We do a lot on our own because it makes up feel good it gives us a chance to give something back,? he said. ?You thank God every day your kids are healthy, but we want to help kids who aren't.?

Tickets available at Bobick?s Golf Headquarters, Sycamore Hills Golf Club and Fort Wayne Country Club. A grounds pass is $10, clubhouse pass is $20 and children 16 and under are free with the purchase of an adult pass.
