Satis House Wedding, Suffolk ? Selina & Simon ? Simon Buck ...

?

?

Where was it?

Simon & I have always loved Southwold and its surrounding area and therefore this formed the search for a suitable location for our wedding. Having identified Satis House as a possibility we visited in December 2011 and from the moment of driving up the drive the characteristics of the house, grounds and location instantly ignited something special within. The setting was perfect and the excitement of finding such a special location was further enhanced upon meeting the owners Kevin and David. Their attention to detail and very professional approach left us with no doubt that this was going to be the perfect location for our big day.

The Theme / Style

Having set the wedding date for Christmas 2012, we both wanted to create a very intimate ceremony with a truly magical winter wedding feel, which we could share with our closest family and friends. The thought of Christmas sparkle along with candles is just so romantic.

Brides Dress

My dress was an exquisite all over lace gown created by the British designer Amanda Wyatt. It was purchased from Wedding Belles of Kibworth, a village in which I grew up and is still home to my parents.

Brides Shoes

My shoes were ?Hattie? wedding shoes by Rainbow Club. They were a simple round toed Mary Jane style, finished with a diamante buckle.

Jewellery / Accessories

I wanted to keep my jewellery relatively simple so as not to detract from my dress. Necklace was by London based bridal jewellery designers Katzi.

My Pandora bracelet had been a birthday gift from Simon, earlier in the year, made extra special as he bought me the wedding bell charm as a gift on the morning of the wedding. My ?something old? was a beautiful brooch which belonged to my Grandmother. Mum had given this to me on the evening prior to the wedding and I pinned it to the underside of my dress for the day. The stone within the brooch is an Australian blue opal and therefore also doubled up as my ?something blue?.

Hair

My hair was styled on the day by Dan at The Cut Above Hairdressers in Southwold.

Makeup

Lorna at The Retreat in Southwold did my make-up for me on the morning of the wedding. She really understood the natural look I was going for.

Bridesmaid Dress

Maddy wore a beautiful ivory dress, complimented with a bow at the front featuring a diamante brooch for that little bit of added sparkle.

Wedding Rings

We both wanted very plain platinum rings, which for me also enhanced and complimented my engagement ring. We purchased these from Fraser Hart in Norwich.

Grooms Attire / Page Boy Attire

Simon looked simply stunning in his charcoal three piece suit and silver silk cravat which he purchased from Moss Bros in Norwich. The service we received from Calvin was excellent. He was incredibly friendly and helpful and quite clearly has a wealth of experience in tailoring.

Regan complimented Simon?s attire and looked the part in a pin-stripe waistcoat and trouser set from Monsoon.

Flowers

Our flowers were supplied by Foxtail Lily florists in Southwold.

Instead of a traditional bouquet Mischa created a wrist corsage for me made up of freesias and eucalyptus of which Simons buttonhole mirrored this.

The children had simplified versions of ours using white carnations with eucalyptus.

Stationary / Invitations

Our bespoke stationary was designed and printed by Fleur at I-do-wedding designs.

Fleur offers a unique range of designs and we chose a folder style invitation from the Thornham collection. Her personal service and attention to detail resulted in us further enhancing and personalising this collection to suit our theme.

Nothing was too much trouble for Fleur and she is incredibly helpful and organised!!

Reception / D?cor Details

The ambience that Kevin created within the ceremony and function room was perfect! It was romantic and elegant and I will never forget the magical feelings of warmth and excitement it filled me with.

We kept our place settings simple, using our own crisp white linen decorated with silver trees and diamante which we had purchased on impulse at John Lewis.

The illuminated Christmas tree visible through the window behind the top table was the icing on the cake!

Wedding Planner

We did all of the wedding planning ourselves and had many a late/sleepless night in doing so!!!

Cake

My Mum and Sister designed and made our fantastic 3-tier wedding cake which was elegantly decorated with an array of finely detailed pearlised flowers. All three tiers were indulgent rich fruit cake with the middle tier having a slight twist with the addition of Belgium chocolate!

Baking has always been a passion for my sister and she has recently formed her own company ? Jus Bakes ? producing high class bespoke cakes and catering for all occasions.

The cake was safely delivered to Satis House from Leicestershire with the finishing touches made on the morning of the wedding.

Food & Drinks

In keeping with our Christmas style we felt that the main course for our wedding breakfast had to be traditional roast turkey with all the trimmings. This was complimented with a duo of salmon to start and in recognition of our love for the drink, we asked David to create a dessert for us incorporating Baileys ? Our flaming Baileys Brulee was amazing and our guests are still talking about it!!

During the evening we served a selection of local cheeses and warm mince pies along with vintage port (which for sentimental reasons we had decanted into a crystal decanter belonging to Simons late Grandfather) and of course, Baileys.

The quality of the food was outstanding and the service was impeccable at Satis House, they really did far exceed our expectations.

Wedding Favors

Never dreamed these would cause us so much stress!

Despite numerous options and purchases we eventually decided on a House of Dorchester box of silver chocolate hearts, in order to compliment our hearts theme on both the invites and table stationary.

As an additional personal thank you to our guests who stayed at Satis House with us, I hand-made some traditional style teddy bears which we arranged to be placed on their beds during the ceremony.

Honeymoon

Simon and I spent an additional night by ourselves at Satis House where we enjoyed an intimate meal in the restaurant to celebrate the start of our marriage.

This was followed by a magical winter break at Elveden Forest Centre Parcs, with the children, where we all had lots of fun!!

Wedding Songs

Our special song was ?Make you feel my Love? by Adele as it has a special meaning to us.

Sources of Inspiration

Tonnes of wedding magazines and the good old internet!

Memorable Moment

There were so many throughout the day but I distinctly remember trying to compose myself in order to make it down the aisle without welling up, especially, when the ceremony door opened and I felt the ambience of the room!

When I finally arrived alongside Simon, I reached out to hold his hand and when he looked at me and squeezed it tightly I felt like the luckiest girl in the world.
