The Donation
The donation is king with reference to the success or failure of a charity. To assure you get every donation your non profit wishes, a few main considerations can make the difference. Your nonprofit must appeal to the donor convince them to want to give their hard earned money to it. Like I discussed in an earlier article titled Donations, the individual giving the donation must think you are the right nonprofit to which to give their finances. Knowing how a donor thinks can help you relate to them on a level they?ll feel comfortable in giving to you.
Donation Questions
Many donors have one or two burning questions that must be answered before they are going to contribute to a nonprofit. Many times those question are targeted on themselves. As a non-profit desiring their donation, if you can help them answer those questions, then show them you?ve got the same answers, you will get their funding.
The questions are:
1. What do I personally consider is a very important charitable purpose?
2. What does one believe is the right cause to give to?
3. Based primarily on my life purpose, what is my responsibility to support?
4. What cause will excite me to be engaged with?
5. How will I gauge which charitable organization will use my support the best?
6. How will I measure the successfullness of an organization that I donate to?
7. What is the important factor in deciding the right amount of money to give a organization?
If you can help answer those questions for a donor considering your charity in which to give their donation you will gain their support. Your answers need to agree with what they would have come up with themselves. Your programs and how you use funding is the most significant activity in your nonprofit work. But targeting an equivalent quantity of time on the donor and their concerns will help you gain each donation that you will need to complete those activities.
Donation Appeal
The genuine cost of being in business is not different in a non-profit than it is in a for profit business. Many times it costs a little cash to gain additional money. There is no replacement for the corporate image, good or bad, that your organization creates. If you would like to have the best probability of gaining every donation that is possible, your organization must look nice in print in the form of leaflets, business, cards, and web site. Unless you are an experienced graphics person, leave hire somebody to polish your corporate image.
The Donation Answers
You need to answer the vital questions above for each donor and get those answers right. You may have the greatest solutions for the causes your nonprofit addresses, but without financial support your nonprofit will not succeed. Start by answering each question above with your own individual answers, this will give you an idea of how a donor might feel. Then go back and come up with multiple answers to each query based on how a donor might answer them. The more answers you come up with for each the better equipped you?ll be to focus on the different donors. Then, create your nonprofit?s informational materials around those answers. When a donor understands that your nonprofit organization answers their questions before they ask, you will be on the way to gaining their donation.
By taking the time to include the donor as well as the charitable cause your non profit addresses will give you the edge you need to appeal to those that have got the funding you want. There is no shortcut when establishing a non profit focused on the donor as well as your charitable focus. Make an effort and generate a quality organization that also appeals to the donor and obtaining the donation will never be the difficulty.

TORONTO - A feisty mound meeting with manager Ron Washington sure fired up Derek Holland.
Holland pitched a four-hitter to win his fourth straight decision, Mitch Moreland and Mike Napoli homered and the Texas Rangers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 3-0 on Saturday.
"You could tell from the get-go that Holland was on his game," Moreland said.
Holland (10-4) reached double digits in victories for the first time and improved to 4-0 with a 1.64 ERA since losing to Florida on July 2. The left-hander has pitched three shutouts in that span, blanking Oakland on July 7 and following that with a shutout of Seattle on July 14.
"His stuff was great today," Napoli said. "When he started throwing in the bullpen I knew he had some good stuff and he brought it into the game. He had a good fastball and he mixed in some off-speed when he had to. The ball was moving all over the place."
Holland, who walked one and struck out five, leads the AL with four shutouts this season and is tied with Philadelphia left-hander Cliff Lee for the major league lead. He and catcher Napoli embraced in front of the mound following the final out. Holland threw just 95 pitches, including 69 strikes.
After Moreland homered off Blue Jays left-hander Brad Mills in the top of the second, Holland faced his only jam in the bottom half, issuing a two-out walk to Rajai Davis, then throwing the ball away on John McDonald's bunt to put runners at second and third. That's when Washington came to the mound to deliver a short, sharp message.
"I told him how important that inning was," Washington said. "We had just put two runs up there. He got two quick outs and then he walks a guy and didn't make a play that he should make. The last thing we need is for him to let those runs score. Then I left."
Washington didn't have to come back the rest of the day. Moreland struck out J.P. Arencibia looking to end the inning, starting a stretch of 12 consecutive outs. The Blue Jays didn't have another runner reach scoring position.
Holland didn't know what was going on when his manager first popped out of the dugout.
"I thought he was going to argue the call or something," he said. "I didn't think anything of it."
Once Washington's stern message had been received, however, Holland was ready to go.
"It fired me up," Holland said. "I know I'm better than that. I shouldn't have been making those two-out mistakes. Especially after the offense just gave us some run support, I'm supposed to go out there and shut them down. I wasn't doing a very good job that inning."
Washington said if Holland had allowed even one base runner in the ninth, he would have called closer Neftali Feliz in to finish. That wasn't necessary. Colby Rasmus grounded out, Jose Bautista struck out looking and Holland deflected Adam Lind's hard grounder to shortstop, where Omar Quintanilla made the final out.
"From previous seasons he's improved a large amount," Lind said of Holland. "You used to see fastballs and sliders but now he's locating his fastball to both sides of the plate with a slider and curveball."
Bautista had two of the four hits off Holland, the first of which was an opening-inning infield pop-up that got lost in the sun. The Blue Jays slugger also hit a two-out single to left in the sixth but Lind ended the inning by grounding to the mound. Arencibia reached on a one-out infield single in the eighth, but Aaron Hill followed by grounding into a double play.
Napoli singled to begin the second and Moreland followed with a line drive homer to right-center, his 13th. It was Moreland's first career homer off a left-hander.
Making his first start of the season, Mills (0-1) allowed two runs and six hits in seven innings, matching a career-high.
Napoli made it 3-0 with a solo shot to center in the eighth, his 15th.
Rangers infielder Ian Kinsler snapped an 0-for-20 slump with a leadoff single to left in the fifth. Kinsler had been held hitless in his previous four games.
Blue Jays shortstop Yunel Escobar was ejected in the sixth for arguing a call at first base. Escobar jumped up and down in anger after he was called out on a groundball up the middle, arguing with umpire Marvin Hudson that Kinsler's throw had pulled Michael Young off the bag.
Hill replaced Escobar and played second base, with McDonald moving from second to shortstop.
Rasmus went 0 for 4 and is 0 for 12 with a walk in three games since being traded to Toronto on Wednesday.
NOTES: Texas OF Nelson Cruz, who left Friday's game with a tight left quadriceps muscle, was held out of the starting lineup. SS Elvis Andrus also didn't start after tweaking his sore right knee Friday. OF Josh Hamilton was held out of the starting lineup but came on defensively in the ninth. ... Lind started at DH and is expected to get the day off Sunday. ... Mills started in place of LHP Jo-Jo Reyes, who was designated for assignment last week. ... In Afghanistan, plan sought in Oct. for US exit (AP)
KABUL, Afghanistan ? The top U.S. commander in Afghanistan has been ordered to submit a plan by mid-October for the initial withdrawal of American troops, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said Sunday. That plan may hinge in part on whether the latest surge in attacks continues through the holy month of Ramadan.
Commanders are hearing that Taliban leaders might leave their fighters in the country to try to regain lost ground during the Islamic holy period which begins Monday, rather than crossing the border to Pakistan, said Adm. Mike Mullen, the Joint Chiefs chairman.
Mullen, who visited U.S. outposts along Afghanistan's eastern border on Sunday, also said U.S. troops are making progress in their renewed campaign against Haqqani network insurgents in havens in Pakistan. And he issued another warning that Islamabad must step up its efforts to root out those militants.
Speaking to reporters traveling with him in Afghanistan, Mullen said Marine Gen. John Allen, who has just taken over as top U.S. commander here, needs time to evaluate the combat, training and other requirements before presenting a detailed withdrawal plan.
Mullen's comments for the first time laid out a deadline for Allen to structure the planned withdrawal of 10,000 U.S. troops by the end of the year, as announced by President Barack Obama.
"The next month will be very telling," said Mullen, noting that often the Taliban leaders will travel back to Pakistan for Ramadan. It's unclear at this point what they will do, or if there will be any decline in the fighting.
U.S. military leaders have said they plan to shift resources and perhaps some troops to the eastern border in the coming months, and Mullen said commanders he met with along the eastern border said the strategy is working.
"The overall goal has been to make it much more difficult for the Haqqani network to penetrate directly in what has previously been called this jet stream between Pakistan, right through Khost into Kabul, and it is more difficult," Mullen said during a news conference shortly after he returned from the volatile border. "That will clearly continue to be the case."
At the same time, however, a senior NATO military official said coalition forces will likely never eliminate the havens. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive issues, said that instead the goal is to intensify U.S. efforts while building the Afghan forces so that they can take over the battle for their own security there.
U.S. officials have been pressing Pakistan to go after Haqqani militants and other fighters who routinely launch attacks into Afghanistan from Pakistan. But relations with Islamabad have frayed, particularly after the U.S. raid in May that killed Osama bin Laden. In recent weeks, the Obama administration moved to delay $800 million in aid to Pakistan, to put further pressure on the government, which has been reluctant to push into North Waziristan and go after the Haqqani network.
Acknowledging the ongoing frustration with Islamabad, Mullen said Sunday that the U.S. will continue to push for action, "but I would be hard pressed to tell you when it's going to happen."
On Ramadan, one Western official said that while Taliban leaders have pushed for an increase in violence through the holy month, information suggests there will be some spikes but that they don't have the ability to carry off a sustained surge. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue, said some leaders and fighters had already left Afghanistan to cross the border into Pakistan, but it is too soon to tell how many may stay.
Mullen, who arrived Friday in Afghanistan, met Saturday with commanders in southern Afghanistan.
He said that so far commanders are saying they are seeing some signs of improved security, but his comments came amid a series of spectacular deadly attacks across the south, including a bombing Sunday outside the main gate of the police headquarters in the southern Afghan city of Lashkar Gah. The suicide bomber killed at least 11 people in a city where Afghans had only recently taken control of security.
That attack comes on the heels of bombings in the southern province of Uruzgan that killed at least 19 people, and the assassination of Kandahar's mayor.
The mayor was the third southern Afghan leader to be killed in the last three weeks.
There are nearly 100,000 U.S. troops in Afghanistan. Under Obama's troop withdrawal plan, 10,000 U.S. troops will leave Afghanistan by the end of the year, and another 23,000 by the end of next summer.
A key to the withdrawal is the ongoing effort to train Afghan forces so they can take control of their own security. Mullen said that while training remains a top priority, and commanders would like to accelerate it, it's not clear how possible that will be over the coming months.

Your headquarters for fantasy baseball analysis of Major League Baseball's trade deadline moves
[UPDATE 4:25 p.m. ET] The Boston Red Sox have acquired SP Erik Bedard and RP Joshua Fields in a three-team deal which also involves the Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Dodgers. The Mariners will receive OF Trayvon Robinson from the Dodgers and OF Chih-Hsien Chiang from the Red Sox. The Dodgers will receive C Tim Federowicz from the Red Sox and two additional minor leaguers.
Though Bedard's new park isn't as helpful (6.99 career ERA at Fenway Park), he'll have much more run support now that he's actually playing for that team. If he's still available in your league, pounce.
Robinson is an elite speed prospect that could immediately see a chance in Seattle; if not this year, he'll be in camp next season. AL-only players should go after him immediately, and deep mixed speed chasers could take a shot, as long as they don't go overboard on a bid.
Chiang is having a stellar campaign at Double-A Portland and gives Seattle even more outfield depth. The 23-year-old is a stashable prospect in dynasty setups
The Pittsburgh Pirates have acquired OF Ryan Ludwick from the San Diego Padres, in exchange for a player to be named later.
FANTASY TIP: Ludwick will be in another pitcher-friendly park, but he now has a better lineup around him. He'll probably stick in the lineup even when Jose Tabata (quadriceps) returns from the DL. This slight bump makes Ludwick worth your time if you're yearning for, say, a fifth outfielder in deep mixed leagues.
This opens up time in the Padres' order for Kyle Blanks to stay in left, and possibly Jesus Guzman to play every day at first base. Both are worth a look in deep mixed leagues if you're hurting for power, but they're hardly guarantees to play. This trade might open up more time for Chris Denorfia, or possibly a promotion of James Darnell, as well. The last one listed is the most intriguing and should be an immediate signing if called up.
[UPDATE 2:50 p.m. ET] The Arizona Diamondbacks are expected to promote 1B Paul Goldschmidt from Double-A Mobile to the major leagues.
Goldschmidt is a must-add in all setups. His raw power and favorable batting ambience could be a boon for the rest of the fantasy season. With the earlier trade of Brandon Allen, Goldschmidt will have a long leash to hold down the 3.
[UPDATE 2:40 p.m. ET] The San Diego Padres have traded RP Mike Adams to the Texas Rangers, in exchange for minor league Ps Robert Erlin and Joseph Wieland.
Looks like Heath Bell is remaining as San Diego's closer. Adams moves to a setup role for Neftali Feliz; he's still a solid acquisition in deep mixed and AL-only setups, but this wasn't what Adams' speculators were hoping for. He still has a shot to close in 2012, though, if Feliz moves to the rotation.
The Atlanta Braves have acquired OF Michael Bourn from the Houston Astros for OF Jordan Schafer and Ps Brett Oberholtzer, Paul Clemens and Juan Abreu.
Bourn was already a top-notch fantasy speed option before the deal; he moves to a better offense that'll make use of his blossoming on-base ability.
